Streamer flies can incredibly effective in the transition into spring, especially on pre-spawn Rainbows. The problem is that springtime conditions often require changing between streamers, nymphs, and dry flies in order to figure out the bite. This is a common struggle especially when prospecting new water. Introduce the idea of a sink tip line and forget about it. Most anglers won’t hassle with changing spools, sink tips, or rods in order to experiment with streamers.

Tips for Fishing Streamers on Floating Lines:
- Use well weighted streamers
- Fluorocarbon Tippet 1X – 3X Size
- Fish the fly from the bottom up.
- Jig in a consistent temp on the “swing out”
- Use a 9′ fast action rod, preferably a 5-6 weight
