Open Fish Weekend

In place of Funfish 2024, Canyon Park on Canyon Lake will be open on February 24, 2024 and February 25, 2024 for free public access to bring your family out and enjoy the facilities, recreate, and fish. We will open the gates at 7:00am and they will remain open until 4:00pm. You will need to exit the park by 6:00pm each day. This event only includes the open areas of Canyon Park Main – the swim beaches and other barricaded areas will remain closed due to upkeep and Park projects. *All Park rules and license requirements will still apply*
May be an image of 10 people, people fishing and text that says 'OPEN FISH WEEKEND Canyon Park will be open for a weekend of Fishing & Recreation at no cost! WORD 02/24/2024 02/25/204 7:00am- 6:00pm with last entry at 4:00pm Water Oriented Recreation District Comal County'

Texas Hill Country, Canyon Lake, experiencing a severe drought

In spite of recent rains, the Texas Hill Country and Canyon Lake’s watershed are experiencing a severe drought. Every drop counts! Here are some water conservation tips to help us save water for Canyon Lake:
✔️ Check sprinklers for efficiency
✔️ Run full loads in your washer and dishwasher
✔️ Use a broom, not a hose, for cleaning
✔️ Check for leaks around your home
✔️ Water plants deeply but less frequently in the Spring
Canyon Lake and river basin condition updates are always available at gbra.org/conditions/basin-summary/.
Let’s work together to conserve our water!

First Annual Tecaboca Cup Trout Tournament & Club Meeting.

8:30 am, Saturday February 24, 2024
Camp Tecaboca, 193 Byas Springs Rd, Mountain Home, TX 78058

Come and use the tips “real time” you recently learned at the January Trout Lease 101 meeting! Open to all THCFF club members. A $30 entry fee per fisherman.

Names will be drawn for two man teams, there will be two teams on the water per hour. Each team will be assigned a judge that records the total number of fish landed.

First, second and third place teams will win a $30 gift certificate to be used at the COUNTRY FLYFISHER SHOP owned by fellow club member Martin Pursch.

Additionally the first place team will have one year bragging rights and be awarded a custom trophy with their names on it. Winners are asked to proudly bring and display at club meetings and events until it is awarded to the next years tournament winning team.

Depending upon the number of teams entered, the championship round may occur on Sunday if needed.

Questions encouraged. Event Leader:  Jeff Schroeder  jeffschroeder@thcff.org

We will start registration at 8:30 and the tournament at 9:00 am sharp (arrive early).  Opening comments by Jeff Schroder and Don Anderson. There will take a mid-day lunch break for fellowship and grilled hotdogs on the riverbank.

The Club 2024 calendar promises to be an exciting time for THCFF. We are starting the year off with 125 members strong. With an emphasis on fishing and fellowship, we are working hard at planning a full slate of club events that will span the entire 2024 year.

I look forward to meeting and fishing with those I have yet to meet. All club members are invited to attend the Feb Trout Stocking, Tecaboca Cup and Measure 2 Tournament.

Feel free to reach out to me at jeffschroeder@thcff.org if I can assist or you have ideas for meeting speakers or club activities.

I wish you “tight lines” and remember to “Leave it better than you found it.”
