Video from Jim Gray on Carp Fishing

Jim has been a speaker a number of times at our club meeting and has a lot of knowledge on fishing a number of the local areas, very fun to listen to.
He had posted this video on his facebook page and I thought I would share it on our page here for those that may not know Mr Gray.
Hope you enjoy!
Three years ago, Chris Johnson and I sat down to talk about carp. I get a lot of requests for a video of my carp presentation, and while this isn’t in the format of a presentation, it does cover a lot of the same material. If you are interested in catching carp on the fly, this is a good place to start.

How flows are determined on the Guad below the dam

We are seeing quite a few posts from “FB Experts” on how flows are determined on the Guad below the dam. There is no doubt it is an area of great concern with our current drought, scorching temperatures and population growth. If you are interested in learning the actual facts about lake levels, flows now and this winter and more, Nathan Pence from Guadalupe Blanco River Authority will be our guest speaker at next weeks virtual Chapter Meeting.

Fly tying class of August 3rd was fun

Jeff O’bara helps some new Fly Tyers at our monthly Fly-Tying session last night.  We tied two new flies; the Griffiths Gnat and one just called the No-Name-UM fly.  Both are said to be very good trout flies.  We won’t be tying next month since several of us will be trying out luck on the San Juan River.  Maybe well get to try out some of the Flys we’ve tied.  We’ll let you know.

Monthly Fly-tying session this Thursday, Aug 3rd

We will have our monthly Fly-tying session this Thursday from 6-8 pm at the Westside Community Center, 2932 South Interstate 35 Frontage Road, New Braunfels.  We will be in the upstairs room this month.  This month we will be tying The Griffith’s Gnat.  We will have a range of hook sizes from 16 to 22 to test your skills and eyes.  The Club will supply the necessary tying materials.  If you have your own tying tools, you are welcome to bring them, and we have several sets available if needed.  Hope to see you there.
