FLY FISHING THE GUADALUPE RIVER

FLY FISHING THE GUADALUPE RIVER
10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 2nd at Living Waters
The Guadalupe River is Texas’ only year-round trout fishery and is ranked as one of the top 100 trout streams in the United States. While at times it fishes very similarly to western tailwaters, the Guadalupe would not be truly Texan if it weren’t just a little different.
In this class, Living Waters’ owner and guide Chris Johnson will share the best practices for effectively targeting Guadalupe River rainbows. He’ll cover fly selection, reading the water, entomology, perfecting your presentation, adjusting for flow rates, river etiquette, and more! Come early, grab a seat and a Round Rock Donut, and settle in for your comprehensive Texas tailwater training!

Fisherofzen on the Guadalupe

Cari Ray
Cari presented a very informative presentation last night at the New Braunfels Fly Fishing Club meeting. I learned a number of things, and enjoyed her presentation very much. If someone can teach me something, (I am slow) then they not only know their stuff, but they can present it in a way that even I could understand. This is worth your time. Also, here’s a link to a blog article with more detail about the topics we covered regarding Guadalupe River Trout Fishing. https://fisherofzen.com/2023/01/07/in-it-to-zen-it/

New Braunfels Fly Fishers team with Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited

The New Braunfels Fly Fishers and Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited have teamed up to feed trout during the summer for the last three years with GRTU buying the fish food and NBFF providing the labor.
The club feeds from May through October, twice a week. The six locations that the club feeds are on the upper Guadalupe River below the dam. The goal of GRTU and NBFF is to provide another food source to assist the trout’s survival during the hot summer months.
Pictured are club members feeding at one of the prettiest spots on the river with enthusiastic help from Dominic, son of one of NBFF’s members.
If you enjoy fly fishing on the Guadalupe River, come join GRTU and NBFF and help support this local effort.
The NBFF’s Holdover Tournament will be held on November 4, 2023. Come join us for a fun time and great prizes.

The below link is to more pictures and some video of some happy fish. The summer and heat does not kill the fish, many will holdover year over year.
